13Solving sin2x=cosx

Solve sin 2x = cos x for 0° ≤ x < 360°.

The solutions are x = 30°, 90°, 150°, 270°. Rewrite sin 2x as 2 sin x cos x, move everything to one side, and factor out cos x to get cos x(2 sin x − 1) = 0, then solve each factor separately. Check one: at x = 90°, sin 180° = 0 and cos 90° = 0 ✓.
