5Fraction of a number

A class has 64 students and 3/8 of them walk to school. How many students walk to school?

24 students walk to school. Splitting 64 into 8 equal groups gives 8 per group, and taking 3 of those groups (3/8) gives 3 × 8 = 24. Check: 24/64 simplifies back to 3/8.
