33Exponential wait probability

Waiting times are exponential with mean 10 minutes. Find P(wait≤5 minutes)\displaystyle P(\text{wait} \le 5 \text{ minutes}). Give the answer to 4 decimal places.

For an exponential wait with mean 10, the rate is λ = 1/10. Using P(X ≤ t) = 1 − e^(−λt) with t = 5 gives P(X ≤ 5) = 1 − e^(−0.5) ≈ 0.3935.
