Find the average value of f(x)=x2\displaystyle f(x) = x^2 on [0,3]\displaystyle [0, 3].

The average value is the integral over the interval divided by its length: (1/3)∫₀³ x² dx = (1/3)(9) = 3. Check: average 3 times width 3 gives area 9, matching the integral.
