17Area with two sides and angle

Two sides of a triangle are 8 cm and 11 cm, and the angle between them is 30°. Find the area.

The area is 22 cm², using Area = ½ab sin C with a = 8, b = 11, and the included angle 30°, since sin 30° = ½. As a sanity check, a 90° angle would give the larger area 44 cm², so 22 for the smaller 30° angle makes sense.
