4Pythagorean theorem

A right triangle has legs of 9 cm and 12 cm. Find the length of the hypotenuse.

The hypotenuse is 15 cm. Using a² + b² = c² with legs 9 and 12: 9² + 12² = 81 + 144 = 225, so c = √225 = 15 cm. Check: 15² = 225, which matches.
