10Finding a sale price
A jacket costs $80. In a sale it is 25% off. What is the sale price?
Taking 25% off an $80 jacket leaves a sale price of $60. First find the discount, 0.25 × 80 = 20, then subtract: 80 − 20 = 60. Check: paying 75% instead, 0.75 × 80 = 60 ✓.
