2Subtracting fractions

Work out 5/6 − 1/4. Give the answer as a fraction in simplest form.

The answer is 7/12. Rewrite both fractions over the common denominator 12 (5/6 = 10/12, 1/4 = 3/12), then subtract: 10/12 − 3/12 = 7/12, which is already in simplest form.
