Find the median of 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9, 2, 6.

Sort the data: 1,1,2,3,4,5,6,9. With 8 values (even), the median is the average of the 4th and 5th values: (3+4)/2 = 3.5. Checking, exactly 4 values sit below and 4 above it.
