20Union of independent events

A\displaystyle A and B\displaystyle B are independent with P(A)=0.3\displaystyle P(A) = 0.3 and P(B)=0.6\displaystyle P(B) = 0.6. Find P(A∪B)\displaystyle P(A \cup B).

For A or B, add their probabilities and subtract the overlap: P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B) − P(A)P(B) since they're independent. That's 0.3 + 0.6 − 0.18 = 0.72.
