44det⁡(2A)\det(2A) scaling rule

A\displaystyle A is a 3×3\displaystyle 3 \times 3 matrix with det⁡A=5\displaystyle \det A = 5. Find det⁡(2A)\displaystyle \det(2A).

Scaling a matrix by k scales its determinant by k raised to the size of the matrix: det(kA) = k^n·det A. Here n=3, k=2, so det(2A) = 2³·5 = 8·5 = 40.
